BIOECONOMY GIANTS Open Call for Scaling-up & Piloting (OC2)
About the grant
BIOECONOMY GIANTS will fund four 7-month pilots to scale up and pilot high-value bio-based products from secondary or underutilised agricultural, agri-food and forestry biomass. Proposed solutions must already be at TRL 6–8, with their current maturity justified and expected progress described. Projects must actively involve primary producers, strengthen cooperative business models and demonstrate circularity and market potential. Standalone bioenergy and biofuel projects are excluded.
Who can apply
Applications must be submitted in English via https://bioeconomygiants.com/open-call-2/ , including Part A (online), the impact pre-assessment (online) and Part B (PDF). Eligible proposals will be assessed by independent experts against five criteria: Concept, Implementation, Consortium Capacity, Scalability & Replicability, and Climate Impact. Each criterion is scored 0–5, with a minimum threshold of 3/5 per criterion and 15/25 overall. The four highest-ranked proposals will be selected.

Apply through the EU Funding & Tenders portal. UK organisations can take part in Horizon Europe on the same terms as EU members. Many calls need a group of partners from different countries.
